Or better yet, sixty?” WEDDING-DAY WEATHER It was supposed to rain all week, but it stayed sunny NUMBER OF GUESTS 115 THEME Garden party FLOWERS A few white roses, but mostly olive branches and rosemary MENU HIGHLIGHTS Mediterranean-style with caprese salad, swordfish, Moroccan couscous, and pan-roasted leg of lamb SPECIAL DRINK Gin rickey, the official cocktail of our nation’s capital DESSERT Three-tier cake of strawberry-almond, chocolate, and chocolate-hazelnut, decorated with rosemary and olive branches FAVORITE DETAIL They wrote their own vows into the ketubah (the Jewish wedding agreement); the document’s design reflected the Oregon forest  FAMILY TOUCHES The groom’s family has a tradition of backyard weddings, so they held the ceremony in his grandfather’s Japanese garden; Lisa’s uncle made the chuppah, and Sam’s brother was the officiant FIRST DANCE SONG “Love, Love, Love” by Avalanche City UNEXPECTED MOMENT Dancing the horah; they hadn’t planned to include this wedding staple, but their friends insisted ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES Remember that with rentals and set-up costs, a backyard wedding isn’t necessarily a money-saver THE DAY IN THREE WORDS Simple, classy, radiant
