1213-francois-openerNAMES Shannon O’Neill & Nate Francois LIVE IN Woodlawn neighborhood OCCUPATIONS She’s a school occupational therapist; he’s an exhibition tour manager at OMSI HOW THEY MET A combination of Ultimate Frisbee and OK Cupid HOW THEY GOT ENGAGED Mid-hike over a picnic lunch on Whidbey Island; while they sealed the deal with a kiss, their dog, Oliver, ate their sandwiches—they let him be ring bearer anyway WEDDING-DAY WEATHER 80 degrees and sunny NUMBER OF GUESTS 100 COLORS Turquoise, mustard, and orange THEME Rustic, bucolic, old time-y FLOWERS Succulents, dahlias, and wildflowers MENU HIGHLIGHTS A lot of the ingredients came from the caterer’s Cully neighborhood urban farm ON TAP There were kegs of Double Mountain Kolsch and IRA, and the grand toast featured Anthem cider instead of Champagne DESSERT Chocolate-bourbon-hazelnut, peach, and mixed-berry pies from Pacific Pie Co DIY ELEMENTS Shannon sewed napkins and bunting, and the couple built the ceremony backdrop (the streamers were made from old sheets) and made raspberry jam to give out as guest favors IMPORTANT SONGS They had the band perform “La Vie en Rose” as their first dance, and Nate gave Shannon a surprise serenade, playing “In My Life” on the accordion UNEXPECTED MOMENT A server accidentally spilled cider down the bride’s back—on the bright side, at least it wasn’t red wine IF THEY HAD IT TO DO OVER They would have appointed someone to act as emcee to help transition between activities and “herd the masses” THE DAY IN THREE WORDS Euphoric, idyllic, tasty HONEYMOON A mini-moon to British Columbia’s Lasqueti Island, with plans for Costa Rica and Panama in December
