Trends: Haute Off the Runway
Strike a pose in one of our favorite 2014 styles from New York Bridal Week
No need to buy jewelry for the big day when your dress features built-in bling. Shine bright in Romona Keveza’s (clockwise from left) intricate lace collar, Hayley Paige’s bejeweled bolero, or Amsale’s glittering halter-neck. Find Ms. Paige at Anna’s Bridal Boutique and Blush by Hayley Paige at AniA Collection, or check out Sophie Chang Collection (across from Providence Park) for a number of gowns topped with glamorous lace yokes.
Take a streamlined silhouette to the next level with chic shoulder accents. We love Anna Maier Ulla-Maija’s lace portrait-collar jacket, Delphine Manivet’s whimsical ruffled sleeves, and Lela Rose’s off-the-shoulder embellished illusion bodice. Another option: top any gown with Haunt owner Holly Stalder’s charming ruffled, lacy shrugs.
Sherbet hues are refreshingly romantic. Color your day with Vera Wang’s violet petal-inspired dress, Lazaro’s blue tulle high-low ball gown, or Jenny Packham’s apricot off-the-shoulder tea-length style. Vera is all new at Divine Designs Bridal Boutique, AniA Collection has Lazaro, and local designer Claire La Faye does blush, pale gray, and nude.
Dressing up doesn’t necessitate a dress; two-piece looks signal elegantly cutting-edge flair. Consider Angel Sanchez’s floral applique tank and ball gown skirt, Houghton’s lace crop top and skirt, or Theia’s sweater and silky pants. Myra Callan of Salem-based Twigs & Honey also fashions lovely separates, and Portland’s Sunjin Lee has a slick leather skirt!
