6 Summer Beauty Must-Haves for Portland Brides
A new beauty retailer opens up shop in town with luxury, sun-ready products
By Eden Dawn
Since 1999, Bluemercury has steadily built an empire across the country as a luxury beauty product retailer, but we Oregonians haven’t had the, er, luxury of being able to stroll into a shop.
That changed with August 2’s Grand Opening of the beauty brand’s first Oregon location at Bridgeport Village.
If you’ve had the opportunity to visit one of Bluemercury’s shops nationwide, you’ll know the highlight of each visit is not the ample inventory and knowledgeable staff, but their desire to pair you with the right product. Yes, we’re talking about samples, folks.
The Bluemercury attitude is they would rather send you home with a bunch of samples until you fall in love with a product rather than push something you aren’t crazy about. And given how much some of us spend on beauty products, that matters.
Not sure what to look at first? We asked Marla Malcolm Beck, CEO and Cofounder of Bluemercury, for her six summer go-to products. Take a look at what she recommends. Brides-to-be, take note!
M-61 Power Cleanse: “This pore-purifying cleanser’s mix of oil-fighting glycolic acid and hydrating Vitamin B5 makes this one a summer staple.” Full size, $32; New travel size, $9
M-61 Hydraboost Cream: “I like to slather this on after too much sun—it’s incredibly soothing and contains healing papaya.” $84
La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Melt-In Sunscreen Milk: “When applying sunscreen, I make sure to pay extra attention to the neck, shoulders and back of hands.” $36
Bumble and Bumble Color Minded Styling Balm: “The only styling product that helps me straighten my hair post-beach. Apply to hair when wet or dry.” $28
New shades of the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Moonlight & Copper: “Perfect shimmery summer colors that stay on and don’t smudge, even on the most humid evenings.” $26
